Student Party
The average age of a typical Left-of-the-Dial audience is usually around 45, so let's say we were somewhat anxious when asked to play at an 18th birthday party last weekend... The band doesn't do Rap, doesn't do Hip-Hop and thinks 'Urban' just means inner-city!
We shouldn't have worried - everyone was up dancing and partying from the first number. It seems that rock, soul and funk are still considered trendy amongst today's students.
More surprisingly, there was no bad behaviour. Yes, everyone was drunk, but 'happy drunk'... All of a sudden - I wish I was a teenager again.

Colds, Flu and Disease
This year it was 5-out-of-5 for Left-of-the-Dial with none of us escaping the many viruses floating around the Southeast. As usual we struggled on... The boxes of Kleenex didn't look none too pretty perched a-top the speakers, but proved very necessary.
Katie was particularly badly hit with flu and missed one gig (The Cricketers in Canterbury) completely. The show must go on - and we were joined for part of the evening by Canterbury favourite: Bob Fridd... He's not bad you know - Have you seen his guitar? Is that a sink strainer covering the sound hole? Bob's a big fan of cats, not the musical. He's even taken one to a gig! Unbeknown to Bob the cat was asleep in the back of his speaker - it was then transported over 40 miles before Bob heard it meowing. Cat lovers will be pleased to learn that Bob turned around and drove the poor creature home rather than subject it to an evening of rock 'n' roll.
